This morning when I was getting ready for a day of fundraising I had a nostalgic moment. I allowed my mind the liberty of lounging in a faraway reverie… of a very different weekend in a very different place. It was at night, there were lights, noise and a lot of people. There I was, amongst a crowd but talking with just one guy—cuz I’m a little shy in crowds. It seemed I was deeply witnessing. First he was talking, I was listening. Then he was listening and I was talking. Then we were reading something. Then we were praying and eventually there was a long hug and some tears.
Afterwards, we walked over towards a large stage where Vas was playing, although I thought I had heard Jeremy Spencer’s soothing voice and characteristic slide guitar somewhere during the long talk. I saw John Paone, David French, Tony Fogarty and other musicians chatting to the side of the stage, in front of a troupe of colorfully dressed actors who all had that telltale excited look that follows a first performance. There were 2 small tents off to the side of the outdoor plaza—a train station it looked like—where people could be seen entering and exiting, looking transformed after just a few minutes with whatever it was that was in there.
It was the International Festival of Cervantino 2009 and hundreds of us were there—mingling, witnessing, singing, praying, hugging… and it looked like we had some brand new drop-out’s along with us! Clearly there were lots of Active and General Members helping in this powerful Offensive drive.
Hundreds of souls had already been won and when I asked someone I recognized only as Family how long we’d been there, she said it was Saturday the 31st and we’d been witnessing in Guanajuato since Friday the 30th. She’d loved the fellowship and concerts at the Camp where everyone was staying;
apparently that was went on all of Wednesday and Thursday after hundreds of people arrived on Tuesday the 27th from all over Mexico, Central America, the States and even some brethren from other countries around the world. As I stared up at the starry sky I reveled in the feeling of doing nothing but witnessing, caring for nothing but the souls, hearts, minds and futures of everyone around me. No home duties, no fundraising… just doing what I live for! This is the life!
Ouch. I had just poked my eye with my mascara brush. Back to reality, I zipped my bag shut, grabbed my phone and jumped in the car so we wouldn’t miss the lunch rush. Driving over the multiple speed bumps on the way to our spot I couldn’t help but smile. Today was going to be a good day. I know
this isn’t all there is, I know the end is worth the means, and with that thought my day suddenly seemed drastically better.
I want to invite you to share in my beautiful daydream that is about to become actuality, here in Mexico at the end of this month. I want to invite you to join us in the launch of “Descubrete” at the
Festival of Cervantino in Guanajuato, Mexico from the 27th of October to the 2nd of November. It’s a targeted witnessing & winning endeavor to the hundreds of thousands of visitors who wander through aimlessly, hoping for something different, something beautiful and something real to contrast
their pointless, routine filled lives.
We need you! For more information and to apply to come with us, please go to warstride.com, sign in and look up all the details on location, cost, event plan and perks! For those coming from the US, the fee which will cover the 6 night event, including your camping location (bring a tent!) with sports
facilities, bathrooms, 3 large meals a day, a “Descubrete” jersey, and a couple other perks, is only around USD 100 (MXN $1300!) Come on down… it’s going to be SO much fun! Hope to see you soon!

FDTP 2009 and WORDSTOCK
November 2, 2008 | Leave a Comment
TO ALL NA HOMES FROM NA REGIONAL JT BOARD
Dear NA Family,
In the summer of 2009 the NA Regional JT Board will be hosting the FDTP (Family Discipleship Training Program) once again. Lord willing, the FDTP will be a yearly program for all 17 year olds in the region. Last year our region held the FDTP in Mexico, together with the Mexico/Central America region, with 56 teens attending. This year we will hold the FDTP in the US or Canada with only 17 year olds from the NA Region. We estimate that there are approximately 25 potential FDTP candidates in our region.
Although the event is nearly 10 months away, we thought you’d want to know that it’s in the planning stages. The NA JT Regional Board will be communicating with all potential candidates (those who will be 17 years old at the time of the event) some time at the beginning of next year. As you can imagine there is quite a bit of planning that will need to go into this 25-day event. It will take a lot of prayer, planning and preparation. Your pro-active prayers would be greatly appreciated and definitely needed.
One of the first prayer requests would be for the Lord to supply the location of the event. At this point it could be held almost anywhere in the US or Canada, but the facilities would need to be appropriate for the number of attendees and that length of time. Later, we’ll send out more specific details regarding what kind of facilities are needed. If you know of any possibilities please let us know.
Also we could use your pro-active prayers for the preparation of the class material that will be used for the FDTP. This will also include material for the teens to read and study before they attend and the follow up material for each one after the event.
As the FDTP begins to take shape we’ll send you specific prayer requests.
Here are a few basic details about the program for those who are or will be 17 in the summer of 2009.
1. Hopefully attending the FDTP can count towards their High School credits. Last year there were more than 100 hours of classes and workshops at the FDTP.
2. There will be preparatory material for each FDTP candidate to read several months before attending the actually event in the summer.
3. The cost of last year’s FDTP was $400/person, and though the cost isn’t set yet for the summer 2009 event, we’d suggest that those interested in attending start setting aside funds to attend and/or find sponsors to help.
4. The event will last approximately 25 days.
Here are the FDTP Goals as listed in FSM 423.
- To prepare our 17-year-olds for the responsibilities of adult Family discipleship; to train and raise professional disciples.
- To show them how Family discipleship life should be lived; to give them a clear understanding of what it means for them to be FD, so that they will be prepared to make the decision to sign the FD contract when they turn 18.
- To challenge them to have a deep relationship with Jesus, as well as in their connection and interaction with the spirit world.
- To help them partake of and contribute to the Family’s future.
- To teach them to go to the Word and absorb and apply it to their lives.
- To give focused, personal shepherding to the attendees and offer help in their weak areas.
- For those on the JT board to develop a closer link with the young people and get to know them better.
- To provide a place for them to have a time that they can look back on and know they made a conscious decision to serve the Lord in the Family (if they haven’t already).
- To provide training they can take back home with them so that they can become a strength to their Home and the overall work.
- To give them quality vocational training in key ministries on a Home level.
- To challenge and motivate them to be the best they can be; to remind them that their Home will be what they as individuals help to make it.
- To learn the importance of personal and collective accountability at the Home level.
- To train them in how to choose their ministries and grow in them.
WORDSTOCK was a tremendously exciting musical and leadership event held here for 4 years (2004 – 2007) and was attended by nearly 80% of the teens in the region. It strengthened our region in many ways. It fulfilled a need for our teens, both with fellowship and with personal challenges and commitments. As most of you know WORDSTOCK required a great deal of time and energy to organize. It also pulled heavily on the resources of nearly every Family Home in the region, not to mention those that attended from outside of the NA Region.
WORDSTOCK was not held in 2008, at the launch of the Offensive, to avoid pulling resources from the Homes as they prepared their Offensive Strategy Plans. In 2009 the NA JT Regional Board will be investing it’s time and focus in preparing the FDTP which, though attended by a fewer number of teens and lasting for nearly a month, will require a great deal more planning of classes and material. Therefore, WORDSTOCK will not be held in 2009.
During the Christmas witnessing season, although some prep work for the FDTP will be happening, we won’t be communicating directly with potential FDTP candidates or parents. That communication will start at the beginning of next year, so our answers to any questions might be limited. However, if you would like to write us, please feel free to do so and we’ll do our best to answer you.
Much love and a lot of prayers for a fruitful Christmas witnessing season,
Ado

MATCH Meeting photos!
November 21, 2007 | Leave a Comment
By Jeremy
Jesus was the MATCH that ignited the flame and got it moving; and just when the world thought they had put out the fire by putting out His life, little did they know that they had really lit the fuse! The fuse that ignited a Christian revolution—one that is still burning bright and powerful to this day through you and me! [Be a part of this flame of God!]
Fight for Your Faith, Part 1!
48 hours packed with 5 hours of classes, almost 3 hours of inspiration, 4 hours of sports, a 3 ½ hour dress up/dance night, a preview of the new “12 Foundation Stones†lots of fellowship…oh and some sleep. What started off as a smaller meeting grew to almost 90 people (64 teens)! They came from as far as New Orleans & Mexico for this two day event. God bless the local Mexia home as they were able to provision a pizza dinner for the whole group as well as two other lunches (For 90 people!). Our faithful cook Marie and her staff took care of the rest. We had some good feeding classes and our Prayer Drive for the youth along with a FED class on Creative Writing. At the last minute a band got together for the inspiration (GBT). All in all it was an inspiring, & believe it or not, relaxing time. God bless all those who helped with all the little things that made it possible!
